News Dartford Green Party candidates announced for upcoming be-elections

Team

Following the sad passing of Cllr Peter Harman, and following a robust internal candidate selection process, we are excited to announce that Green Cllr Laura Edie and Sacha Gosine will represent Dartford Green Party, and the wider community, at the Swanscombe & Greenhithe Kent County Council by-election, and the Greenhithe & Knockall district by-election respectively, both taking place on November 21st 2024.

Laura, who is a councillor for Newtown ward in Dartford, recently ran in the General Election, and is now seeking to represent the communities of Greenhithe, Knockhall, Swanscombe, and Ebbsfleet as a Kent County councillor.

Laura has this to say:

"Swanscombe & Greenhithe are wonderful areas with so much to give! I live and work in Dartford with my family, and I am invested in the growth of your community for generations to come. I will protect green spaces. I set up the Save Swanscombe Peninsula campaign and ran the Save Bluewater Nature Trail alongside local residents. The successes of both campaigns show the strength of what we can achieve when we come together.

It’s clear we need more warm, affordable homes, balanced with the right infrastructure. We must work with local schools, healthcare providers, and businesses to meet local needs. Your voices need to be listened to! I am hard-working and invested in providing and protecting local services for local people."

Sacha has been both councillor and deputy leader of Dartford council in the past, and recently joined Dartford Green Party as the values and community-first focus of the party is much more aligned with him.

Sacha, who is a mental health social worker, has this to say:

"I work with some of the most vulnerable people in the community. I am more than aware of how the cost of living crisis has affected working people in our area. I am a long time Dartford resident and I care about promoting and supporting our community.

I could list a range of everyday issues I believe are important, but I am here to represent you. I believe in a people-powered campaign driven by what matters most to you in Greenhithe & Knockhall."

Most recently, Laura and the wider Dartford Green Party, have created a Citizens Forum on Congestion which aims to leverage the ideas, experiences, and imagination of over 110,000 Dartford borough residents, councillors from across parties, and other stakeholders.

Dartford Green Party exists to be a strong independent voice that represents YOU.

We do hope that you will consider Real Hope, and Real Change the Green light on November 21st.
